The month of April was a total mixed bag. The first 2 weeks were a write-off with rough weather, however the weather over the last couple of weeks have been bliss and we look forward to the calmer winter weather which is to come.
It was a very quiet mackerel season over summer, but the deep sea winter species are well and truly about in big numbers. We have been catching pearl perch, snapper, trag jew in abundance and a couple of tuskies and flathead per trip.
Catch of the Month
Catch of the Month for April goes to Gary Brookes for catching this 12kg Banded Rock Cod or Downunder Grouper. It was caught on Saturday 27 April out on the 50 fathoms on a full day charter. Gary wins a free trip on FV Fat Hooker. Good stuff, Gary! See you soon.
